A Top Attraction in Shipshewana, Indiana
Can you imagine a fantastic animation where a cozy quilt transforms into a beautiful bed of flowers? No need to imagine because such a place is quite real. You can find this in Northern Indiana Amish Country (comprising of seven communities). Above all these communities band together to create amazing, blooming quilts for visitors to enjoy. From a fun stop-over to a multi-day stay, you can’t beat the beauty and variety of Northern Indiana Amish Country. Above all, it is home to the third-largest Amish community in the nation.
The Quilt Festival was named one of the top North American destinations of 2018 by the American Bus Association! This one-of-a-kind experience showcases 20 gigantic quilt patterned gardens. Each garden is stitched with thousands of blooms grown locally. They create a tapestry of color by combining 21 hand-painted quilt art murals. Most noteworthy, at each garden/mural you can get more of the story behind the creation of the pattern via the onsite storyboard.
The Quilt Festival will run from Memorial Day through the end of September. Furthermore, it is free to view. For that reason, please come travel along the 90 mile Heritage Trail viewing all the beautiful quilt gardens. This year’s festival will also host a variety of vendors, workshops, food, and other activities.
