The unique design of the Caledonia collection can be traced back to the early Shaker-era furniture. Skilled craftsmen built practical but beautiful furnishings for their homes and large religious gatherings. Furthermore, the subtle curves, flat sides, and knob hardware marked the original Shaker pieces. While the Caledonia Collection features these same design characteristics, it has a few noticeable differences. First, the Caledonia collection boasts an exaggerated curve through the leg or post. Far from a subtle accent, the long sweeping curve makes the Caledonia style instantly recognizable. Second, the Caledonia typically features a dark wood finish. Third, the Caledonia often features a small gap where the leg or post joins to the top of the piece.
