Shipshewana Summer News Update 2011
As Shipshewana, Indiana begins its busy season of warm weather and excited visitors in 2011. The townspeople went the extra mile to provide a safe, inviting and fun atmosphere.
- First of all 119 trees were planted along the Pumpkinvine Trail section leading to Shipshewana, creating a scenic and environmentally beneficial strip of land.
- As well as the street department was busy cleaning and painting the streets before Mayfest. The town worked with the Focus group on the Town Center.
- Finally, in an earlier blog, we covered the brewing tension between Shipshewana residents who disapproved of Gas America’s seeking an alcohol permit. Along with their decision to legally veto the retailer’s efforts. Recently, Gas America appealed their denial of an alcohol permit but to no avail. Shipshewana retailers will remain “dry” except under special circumstances.
