Amish Mission Style Furniture
Above all visual art, architecture and furniture crafting have intersected and influenced each other throughout history. Therefore making it an area of much interest and study. Art historians, architect experts and furniture connoisseurs have written volumes tracing the unique influence of an art movement on a culture. This includes tracing the waves of influence like concentric rings on the surface of a still pond. The Amish Mission Style Furniture was heavily influenced by an outside source. As a result, mission style furniture still enjoys huge popularity.
Mission style furniture draws its influence from the Christian mission buildings established by Spanish monks throughout the Southwestern United States. The Mission's minimalist style became translated beautifully into a furniture style that possessed a practical, simple yet beautiful style.
Art historians may also trace the creation of Mission style furniture to the modern "Minimalist" art movement of the early-20th century. We may never fully know the complex ways in which visual art, architecture, and furniture craft have influenced each other. We can be sure that the legacy of the "Mission style" is still making an impact today.
